I... [She combs her fingers through her hair, sighs. It's now or never.]
I knew you from before. I think you were here a few months before I came here since you were the one who told me the Dreamberries can broadcast our dreams. Er, that was after I saw your dream. First dream I ever saw here. [She suddenly chuckles at the memory.] I freaked out so much. After that, we became friends but we only spoke in the Dreamberry at first. The first time I saw you in person was... at a Speed Dating event that the tavern organized on Valentine's Day. I even trusted you with a huge secret of mine after that.
[She smiles for a moment before it turns solemn again.]
It changed after the first time people got trapped in that warehouse. I looked for my friends everywhere, including you. After it was all over, I left a message in your voicemail, asking if you were okay. Somehow, that phone conversation turned into a confession and... [Okay, she's blushing a bit at this part.] we started to date-
[He watched her as she explained what had happened when he was here last. He was looking for any signs of her speaking falsehoods, but nothing. She looked genuine. But he...couldn't...remember any of it.
And if it escalated to them dating at on point, then...this poor girl. He had no feelings for her at all. He couldn't remember them even meeting prior.
The fact that she had kept all of his belongings even after his departure must have been hard.
He looks away from her, his face concentrated in thought. What could he say to that?]
I'm sorry that happened. I really can't remember this place, so...I can't return any feelings.
[He looks down at the Riku box.]
Thanks for keeping this for me... I don't remember any of it, but it all looks like...well, me.
[She heaves a heavy sigh, quickly rubbing the corner of her eye with her finger when she felt a tear forming. She felt something tighten in her chest but can't cry now, not when none of this was really Riku's fault. Even though it might have been pointless to have waited for him to come back only for him not to remember her, Shiki still hoped, she still waited, she still held on to those feelings. If one would have ask her if it was worth the wait, she would have said yes. She missed him and seeing him again... it would have been enough. Seeing that he was safe and happy.
It would have been enough.]
[When she caught his gaze, she gulped, trying her hardest to smile back at him, willing herself not to break down right there and then.]
You're, um, you're welcome. I've always thought even though you might not remember, you'd still want to have this.
[She pats the Riku box with her hand, laughing. She sniffs, her finger quickly wiping her eyes again. Feeling her resolve weakening, she was starting to think that maybe leaving her letters in the box might have not been a good idea. He said he couldn't remember, he said he couldn't return her feelings. Was it even wise to have him read them? Would that even accomplish anything? She sighs once more, bringing gaze down to the box again. If she held his gaze for much longer... she's not quite sure if she can take it.]
[Riku honestly doesn't know what to say. What could he say? He wasn't as good as being comforting as Sora or Kairi. And anything too nice might just upset her more.
He lets out a light sigh through his nose and closes his eyes for a moment before moving his head to look her in the eyes without his hair in the way.]
If we were friends before, I don't see why we can't be friends again.
[But that's all he could offer was friendship. Nothing more.]
Dun dun dun duuuun
